SOCIAL JUSTICE AND WHITENESS STUDIES
Current projects include:
The Social Justice Consultation Corps (sponsored by the B.O. Smith Professorship Award from the College of Education). This two year project involves training and supervising counselor education and counseling psychology students in providing social justice consultation to campus student organizations who serve marginalized populations.
White Allyship study: a grounded theory exploration of what White allyship looks like, from the perspective of BIPOC faculty.
Decolonizing the Counseling Curriculum Scale: factor analysis of a scale to measure decolonizing and anti-racist pedagogical practices in counselor education.
Content analysis of CESNET listserv discussions related to intersectional identities and oppression.
EMPATHY RESEARCH
Current Projects Include:
White Empathy: Conceptualizing how to enhance true empathy within White people while also recognizing when empathy is voyueristic and self-serving.
VALUE CONFLICTS AND LGBTQIAA+ INTERSECTIONS

Examining LGBTQ+ attitudes towards counselor statements that are meant to be affirming, to explore what true affirming counseling can look like.
